Night Vigil by Parish Youth

St. Dominic Savio Church, Wadala (E)

On 7 March 2015 the parish youth of St. Dominic Savio Parish Wadala (E) organized a Night vigil as part of a Parish Lenten mission. A well planned and executed vigil helped the parishioners to spend a quality time in the presence of the Lord.

Two preachers, Fr. Cleophas Braganza SDB and Fr. Maria Anthony helped the people to reflect on Word of God and having a meaningful celebration of Lent, with their powerful preaching. The two Gospel bands The Assorted and Echoes of Zion, made the worship vibrant right from the start. Their presence brought a lot of liveliness and helped people to pray. During the vigil Jesus bringing redemption through the Cross was symbolically enacted by people coming one by one and nailing the cross – a sign that Jesus took our sins on the cross and redemption has come for us through the cross. There was also a special remembrance and prayers for Christians all over the world especially in India, who are persecuted for their faith. It was done by once again by people coming and placing a lighted candle on the map of India while a song of peace was sung.

The parishioners have expressed a deep sense of appreciation and gratitude for this very innovative Night Vigil. May all the efforts we put into make this Lent a very spiritual one, which will bear fruit.
